Praise & Prayer Bulletin
For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. II Cor. 4:6
December 2011 and January 2012, have been very full months- months of ministry opportunities, struggles, blessings, and preparations. We are so grateful for five Christmas evangelistic outreaches that we were able to participate in- including 3 occasions where Andy was asked to give the message to audiences that were composed of many unsaved family members, neighbors and friends of the program participants. He was also asked to speak at one event where 95% of the attendees turned out to be children, something which he was not apprised of ahead of time. He had to think real fast on his feet to adapt his message.
In December, our children were helping at the deaf school almost on a daily basis. Our older daughters helped teach the kids, and all of our kids helped with the recreation activities of the students. Carol and our kids were able to be a part of a very special graduation program, and our whole family was able to be at their graduation dinner. Pray for us as we decide about what level of involvement we might have in the new school year which begins in March.
What a joy it was to be present at 2 weddings of some wonderful Christian young people, who all are serving God with their talents and are the future leadership of the church here. Weddings, and the festivities afterward, can go on for quite a long time in Iquitos- one began at 6:30 PM and went on until well after midnight. It has been wonderful to see that the couples whose weddings we were a part of 5 and 6 years ago, are still doing great- it’s fun to see their kids too.
Our Peru Field Team meeting was held in January, and Andy was able to attend it. It was a wonderful time of being with our whole team of Peru missionaries, and it was a very necessary time, since our team has experienced many, rapid, and some unexpected, changes. But God was very faithful in giving us wisdom and a spirit of teamwork and family, that helped us work through many decisions. Pray for our Peru Field Team, as we implement the changes and as some members take on new roles.
<-- Our kids with MK friends in Santiago, Chile
Also in January, our entire family traveled to the country of Chile to attend the MCSSA conference where we got together with all our fellow ABWE missionaries from all the Spanish-speaking countries of South America. It was a fantastic time of training, spiritual refreshment, fellowship, and change of scenery for us. Our kids especially enjoyed the time where they could get to know many fellow missionary kids and spend time in recreation and in being spiritually fed. Chile is a very beautiful and modern country. But alas, we had to leave, and we are now back into living and ministering here in the jungle.
