“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

October 8th, 2010
Dear Praying friends!
Greetings in Jesus name from Spain and Israel! Nancy and I are having a once in a life time experience! We arrived in Spain for the first time Sept 30th. We were able to attend service Azuqueca Baptist Church and get to know the believers there. Shawn and Lydia showed us around some in the Madrid area where they live. We walked a lot....and prayed that if it was the LORD’s will the baby might be born soon. October 5th we took Lydia to the hospital in the morning. That afternoon the event long awaited happened and Nancy and I officially became grandparents! What a joyful moment! Praise God for a good delivery! Praise God with us for the birth of Julia Faith Corbin!
It is such a blessing that Nancy could preparing with Lydia before the birth for several days and plans to be with Lydia after Julia’s birth for nearly two weeks! Pray for Shawn and Lydia as they begin parenting! Pray for us as we begin grand parenting!

Spain is more than half way from Brazil to Israel. Last semester at the Antioch Bible Institute I taught a class on Israel. (I may teach a class on Islam next semester. This semester I am teaching classes on I Corinthians and a class on Church Planting.) I had always been interested in Israel, but teaching on Israel increased that interest. As we prepared to go Spain for the birth of Julia Faith, I discovered that travelling from Spain to Israel costs much less than from Brazil. I also got information from friends who who spent time in Israel on how to stay there without spending a lot. (6 days and 5 nights: projected time in Israel.) Selling an old 1971 Suburban type vehicle we had not been able to use in years brought in enough to cover the cost of this “side” trip. Thank you, LORD!

This is being written from Jerusalem. Yesterday morning I arrived here and already have walked from one side of the old walled city to the other side. I am staying at a place some 800 years old inside Jaffa Gate for $41.17 per night! The average cost of my meals so far has been about $5.90 per meal! Hummus (made from chickpeas) is both inexpensive and good for you! (It tastes good, too!)
Please pray God’s blessings on my time here! I desire that this be not just a tourist trip, but a growth and learning time as well.

Yesterday afternoon, I had the opportunity to share my faith in Christ with an Arab shop keeper. Pray for this man named Solomon that he might see his need of Christ. It is sad to see the great spiritual darkness in this land. It is also sad to see the lack of peace because the Prince of Peace has been rejected. Today I visited the Wailing Wall. The Jews weep because their temple was destroyed. We who know the Lord need to weep for the lost without Christ all around us! In Romans 9:2 Paul said that he was saddened because of his kinsmen who were lost without Christ. Praise God that after weeping comes rejoicing for the child of God! Praise God Jesus, the Prince of Peace is coming again!

LORD willing, I leave mid-night October 12th for Spain. October 14th a Mission’s Conference at Shawn and Lydia’s church in Azuqueca starts. We have been asked to take part in this Missions Conference and are looking forward to that!

On our way back to Brazil we are stopping back by the USA October 18th where we will be involved in two Missions Conferences in the state of Pennsylvania. We also plan on visiting friends and supporters in other parts of the US as the LORD permits. Please pray for the LORD”S blessing on all these miles we are travelling and these ministries we will be having part in!

Pray for the ministry of the Antioch Bible Institute! We are looking forward to being back with our students the beginning of November. (Thank God for my brother, Dave Johnson, who is filling in for me in my classes and housing sitting for us!)
We are excited about the open door available to go share the Gospel in the neighbouring state of Piaui where the ABI made the missions trip to last month. Plans are being made for some of the students to travel there once each month to help that in that ministry. Thank God with us for students who desire to be used of the LORD!
Once again we say: “Thank you” to those of you who pray for and support our ministry in Brazil!
Yours and His,

Ron & Nancy Johnson
